Yet others like my family have been so disillusioned by these people following a hollow Islam that they shun all outwardly appearance of religion. Or they might be shocked that you didn’t pray the optional prayers – because they no longer consider them optional. What happens when you give something too much importance is that it might prevent you from following a more holistic view of Islam. I feel like this is what has happened with the burqua.
